To find the acceleration
a=V-U/t
a=80-0/20
a=4ms-2

To find the retardation
a= U-V/t
a=80-0/40
a=2ms-2

retardation=90÷50=1.8

approximately 2mls

Hope it's correct

To determine the acceleration and retardation of the vehicle, we need to analyze the velocity-time graph.

Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. In the graph:

- The initial velocity is 0 m/s, and the final velocity is 40 m/s.
- The time taken to reach the final velocity is 10 seconds.

The acceleration (a) can be calculated as:

a = Δv / Δt
= (40 m/s - 0 m/s) / 10 s
= 4.0 m/s²

Retardation is the rate of decrease of velocity. In the graph:

- The initial velocity is 40 m/s, and the final velocity is 0 m/s.
- The time taken to reach the final velocity is 5 seconds.

The retardation (r) can be calculated as:

r = Δv / Δt
= (0 m/s - 40 m/s) / 5 s
= -8.0 m/s²

Since retardation is a deceleration, it's negative, but we're interested in its magnitude. Therefore:

- Acceleration = 4.0 m/s²
- Retardation = 8.0 m/s²

The correct answer is B: 4.0 ms⁻², 8.0 ms⁻².
