What is the smaller value of x for which x\(^2\) - 3x + 2 = 0 ?
x\(^2\) - 3x + 2 = 0
x\(^2\) - 2x - x + 2 = 0
x(x - 2) - 1(x - 2) = 0
(x - 1)(x - 2) = 0
Therefore, x = 1 or 2
Hence x = 1 is the smallest value.
