Find the values of x for which the expression is undefined: \(\frac{6x - 1}{x^2 + 4x - 5}\)
A fraction is undefined when its denominator is zero, i.e.
\(\frac{6x - 1}{x^2 + 4x - 5}\) is undefined when x\(^2\) + 4x - 5 = 0
x\(^2\) + 4x - 5 = 0
= x\(^2\) + 5x - x - 5 = 0
x\(^2\) + 5x - x - 5 = 0
= x(x + 5) - 1(x + 5) = 0
(x - 1)(x + 5) = 0
x = 1 0r -5
