Solve the inequality 2x + 3 > 5x + 8
Given: 2x + 3 > 5x + 8
2x + 3 - 5x - 8 > 0
⇒ -3x - 5 > 0 ⇒ -3x > 5
⇒ x < \(\frac{-5}{3}\) = -1 \(\frac{2}{3}\) (inequality reverses on dividing by)
x < -1\(\frac{2}{3}\)
