Two opposite sides of a rectangle are (5x + 3) m and (2x + 9) m. If an adjacent side is (6x - 7) m, find in m\(^2\), the area of the rectangle.
Opposite sides of a rectangle are equal, then (5x + 3) = (2x + 9)
5x - 2x = 9 - 3
3x = 6
x = \(\frac{6}{3}\) = 2.
Put x = 2 in either (5x + 3) or (2x + 9) = 13m
Adjacent side (6x - 7) (given) also put x = 2 into it, 6(2) - 7 = 5
Area of rectangle = length x breadth(width) = 13 x 5 = 65 m\(^2\)
