In the diagram, BCDE is a circle with centre
A. ∠BCD = (2x + 40)°, ∠BAD = (5x - 35)º, ∠BED = (2y+ 10)° and ∠ADC=40". Find:

For the people who don't understand, the first equation is gotten as opposite sides in a cyclic quadrilateral are supplementary ( they add up to 180 degrees ) so they equated it and got the equation x + y = 65.
The second equation is derived from the law that says the angle subtended at the center of the circle is twice the angle at the circumference. So they equated "5x - 35 = 2(2y+ 10)".
Although what I don't understand is that the diagram used negative signs but equation uses positive.

please the question is not complete and the values in the diagram are not the true representatives of the variables in the question.
please kindly update the information in the diagram
