There is a way to make addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in other bases easier.
you just need to write out the number line.

e.g in base 3 we have: 0, 1, 2, 10, 11, 12, 20, 21, 22, 100, 101, 102, 110, 111, 112, 120, 121, 122, 200, 201. e.t.c
- if you can write this out just note that the difference between 2 consecutive numbers is one.

so with that addition, and subtraction are made way easier. Multiplication and division should be possible but it will be a little more technical.
Just came up with this what do you think.
