When you trim a circumference, the radius will reduce obviously.
So we can assume the initial and new radius are R₁ and R₂ respectively. It was stated that the circumference was reduced in the ratio 2:5 i.e R₂ : R₁ = 2:5 ---> 2R = 5R₁
