if the man made 8% when he sold at 45...

it simply means the original price is not 45... but 45- profit

find the profit

8% = x
100% = 45 - x

(% cancels out)

if you solve for x, you'll get 3.33 (the profit)

the original price = (45 - 3.33) => 41.67

now you can find how much he should have sold to make 32% profit

simply do:

if 100% = 41.67
132% = x

x = (132% x 41.67) ÷ 100%
(% cancel each other out)

x = 55.004,

approximately 55

Given Values
Selling price (SP1) = N45.00
Profit percentage (P1) = 8%
Desired profit percentage (P2) = 32%

Calculate Cost Price (CP)
Let's find the cost price:
SP1 = CP + (8% of CP)
45 = CP + 0.08CP
45 = 1.08CP
CP = 45 / 1.08
CP = N41.67

Calculate New Selling Price (SP2)
SP2 = CP + (32% of CP)
= N41.67 + 0.32(N41.67)
= N41.67 + N13.33
= N55.00

The man should sell the article for N55.00 to make a profit of 32%.
