The calculation has no proof in mathematics ๐๐
It may not be accepted in Waec ๐๐

Just put the one with formula

Let the cost price that P bought it be represented by 'x', and the selling price from P to Q represented by 'a'; since it is a percentage PROFIT of 10%, then:
[(a - x) รท x]*100 = 10
(a - x)/x = 0.1, if you divide through by 100, then multiply through by x
(a - x) = 0.1x
a = 0.1x + x
a = 1.1x
x = a/1.1 ......(i)
The selling price from P to Q {a} is the cost price Q bought it. Let the price Q sold it to R be represented by 'y'; since it is a percentage LOSS of 5%, then:
[(a - y)รทa]*100 = 5
(a - y)รทa = 0.05
(a - y) = 0.05a
a - 0.05a = y
0.95a = y
y = 209 from the question
0.95a = 209
a = 209/0.95
a = 220
But we were asked to find the cost price P bought it,
Recall from equ-(i)
x = a/1.1
x = 220/1.1
x = 200.
