(a) Mean x¯=∑xn=8
1+2+x+11+y+146=8
28+x+y=48⟹x+y=20....(1)
The middle numbers are x and 11 therefore, x+112=9
x+11=18⟹x=18−11=7
Putting x = 7 in (1),

7+y=20⟹y=20−7=13
(x, y) = (7, 13).

(b) LMLP=34
Area of LMNArea of LPQ=3242
Area of Δ
LPQ = 169×18=32cm2
∴Area of quadrilateral MPQN=32−18=14cm2
