4y - 5x =14 ... (ii)

Substitute y=3x into equation (ii) because the value of y is already given

4(3x) -5x = 14

12x -5x = 14

7x = 14

x=14/7

x=2

subsitute x=2 into equation (i)

y=3(2)

y=6
