Political Science and International Relations can be studied under the Social & Management Sciences in the following Nigerian Universities;
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Political Science and International Relations under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences in the above listed universities include;
Three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) CRAWFORD requires English, Mathematics, Government and any Social Science subject or History
(ii) NTNU accepts Government/History/Civic Education and any two Arts or Social Sciences subjects.
(iii) UNIABUJA requires Government and any other two Arts or Social science subjects.
(iv) CRESCENT and TASU require History or Government and any two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects.
The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Political Science and International Relations;
You require;Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language Government or History and at least a pass in Mathematics
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) GO requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in subjects which include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and Government.
(ii) UNIOSUN requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes obtained at not more than one sitting in English Language, Government and Mathematics and any other two (2) relevant subjects
(iii) CRAWFORD Five 'O' level credit passes to include English, Government and 3 other subjects with at least pass in Mathematics
(iv) TASU requires 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, History/Government, Mathematics and any two (2) or three (3) if Mathematics is not passed at credit level to include Economics, Geography, Christian Religious Studies /Islamic Studies, Commerce and Literature in English.
(v) CRESCENT requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes or equivalents which must include English Language, Mathematics, and any other three (3) subjects as may be specified by each Faculty
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Political Science and International Relations, if you don't intend to use UTME.
You require;Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Government and one other Social Science subject
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) UNIOSUN in addition to the UTME requirements accepts 'A' Level passes in History, Literature in English and Mathematics.
(ii) CRAWFORD accepts
a. two (2) 'A' Level passes in Government and any other Social Science subject.
b. NCE - with at least merit.
c. ND/HND in relevant programmes not lower than lower credit
(iii) NTNU accepts any two (2) 'A' Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects, ND/HND lower credit or NCE merit in relevant programmes or subjects
(iv) UNIABUJA accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects. Or NCE (minimum10 points) /ND upper credit in Social Works and other relevant programme in addition to the UTME requirements
(v) TASU in addition to UTME requirements accepts a. IJMB (Arts and Social Sciences) b. ND lower credit in Public Administration to be placed in 100 level while upper credit in 200 level
(vi) CRESCENT
accepts
a. NCE, ND, HND and their approved equivalents with lower credit may be admitted to the appropriate level.
b. IJMB at acceptable grades.
c. In exceptional cases, ND lower credit from recognised institutions into 200 level in relevant degree programmes, alongside the minimum requirements stipulated for entry into 100 level
d. HND lower credit from recognised institutions may be admitted into 200 level in the relevant degree programmes plus the minimum requirements stipulated for entry into 100 level.
