Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Geology under the Faculty of Sciences in the above Universities include;

Any three of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Geography.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

(1) UNIBEN accepts Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology. Does not accept Geography.

(2) UNILAG, FUTO, UNIPORT, DELSU, UNILORIN and UNICAL require Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

(3) OOU - Chemistry is compulsory and does not accept Geography as UTME subject in lieu of Biology.

(4) AJAYI requires Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology..

(5) ABU requires Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biology.

(6) OSUSTECH requires Mathematics, Physics and either Chemistry, Biology or Geography.

(7) SALEM requires Chemistry, Physics and either of Biology, Geography or Mathematics.

(8) UNN requires any three of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Biology.

(9) NDU requires the five ‘O’ level credit passes in not more than two sittings.

O'Level Requirements


The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Geology;

You require;

Five (5)  SSCE credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other subject.



SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

(1) AJAYI, UNILORIN and UNIBEN accept ‘O’ level credit passes in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and do not accept Geography.

(2) MAUTECH, OOU and AAUA require Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics as UTME subjects.

(3) UNIZIK accepts 'Pass' in English Language.

(4) UNICAL and UNN require 'five O' level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. EBSU does not accept physically challenged candidates because of the strenuous nature and the requirement of transversing difficult terrains and mountainous areas.

(5) EKSU accepts a pass in English Language for candidates who have distinction in Physics or Mathematics.

(6) OSUSTECH require SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Geography.

(7) UI requires 5 or 6 'O' level credit passes at one or two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and one of the following: Geography, Further/Mathematics, Economics and Technical Drawing.

(8) UNIPORT does not accept credit in Geography in lieu of Biology.

(9) KSU, UNIPORT and FUTO require credit pass in Physics as the fifth subject.

(10) DELSU requires credit pass in Physics.

(11) WUSTO requires five 'O' level credit passes in English, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry & any other relevant subject.

(12) UNIOSUN requires five 'O' Level credits in the SSCE including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics to form the core subjects, with credit in any of the following: Biology/Agricultural Science and Geography at not more than two sittings.

(13) ABU requires Five O' level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

(14) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Geography.

(15) FUTMINNA requires at least a pass in Physics.

(16) OSUSTECH require credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Geography.

(17) UNILAG requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(18) NDU accepts HSC, ND passes in any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Geography.

(19) UNN require five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
 

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Geology, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) 'A' level passes from Geology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Geography


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

(i) UNIZIK accepts  'A' level passes in Geography and HND credit in Mining Engineering.

(ii) UNIZIK accepts ND credit in Biology/ Agricultural Science and Chemistry into 100 level.  

(iii) UNIZIK require 'A' level passes in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.  

(iv) UNIBEN and OAU do not accept 'A' level Geography.

(v) UNIPORT - No Direct Entry. 

(vi) UNILORIN requires 'A' level passes in Chemistry and Physics plus O' level credit passes in Mathematics and Biology. ND certificates are not acceptable.

(vii) MAUTECH accepts two (2) 'A' level passes from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Geology.

(viii) AJAYI and UI accept ND upper credit in Geology and related prorammes.

(ix) UI does not accept HND in Mining Engineering.

(x) OAU accepts HD upper credit

(xi) FUTMINNA accepts NCE credit,ND/HND lower credit plus five (5) 'O' level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any other Science subject and ‘O’ level  pass in Physics .

(xii) DELSU requires Chemistry and one (1) of Physics/Mathematics/Biology.

(xiii)   AAUA accepts ND upper credit in Science Engineering or any other relevant  programmes.

(xiv)    OOU accepts ND/Professional Certificate lower credit in Geology and Mining 

(xv)   UNIBEN in addition to the UTME requirements accepts

a)   ND upper credit / HND lower credit in Science Laboratory Technology, Mining or other relevant programmes.

b) NCE merit with ‘O’ level credit pass in Biology or Chemistry

 

(xvi) WESLEYUNI accepts

(a) Two (2) 'A' level passes in any of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics and any other relevant subject

(b) ND upper credit in addition to five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes or its equivalent.  

 

(xvii) UIaccepts two (2) 'A' level subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Geography and any other Science subjects or ND upper credit in Geology.  IBADAN does not accept Geography as a UTME subject

(xviii) OAU accepts ND upper credit in Geology  

(xix) UNIOSUN accepts two (2) 'A' level passes in Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics. ND lower credit in Science Laboratory Technology.

(xx) UNN accepts ‘A’ level passes or its equivalent in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or ND upper credit or HND lower credit in Geology or Geological Technology for admission into a four (4) year programme in Geology or Geology/Physics in addition to the UTME requirements. 

(xxi) UNICAL does not accept 'A' level passes in Geography and Biology. 

(xxii) OSUTECH requires two (2) 'A' level passes in Physics and Mathematics or Geography.

(xxiii)  UNICAL requires two (2) 'A' level passes from Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry in addition to the UTME requirements.

(xxiv) FUTO requires two (2) 'A' level passes not below Grade C from Geology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Geography and Land Surveying. It also accepts ND/HND upper credit in relevant programmes.  Candidates must in addition meet the UTME requirements.  It does not accept First Degree and NCE. 

(xxv) BUK does not accept NCE. 

(xxvi)  UNILAG requires 'A' level passes in the following JUPEB subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, candidates must have ‘O’ level credit pass in Biology
