In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Biotechnology under the Faculty of Sciences in the above listed universities include;
Biology, Chemistry and any other Science subject.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(1) NUN accepts any three (3) Science subjects.
(2) MAUTECH requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics for both Plant Science and Biotechnology.
The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Biotechnology;
You require;Five (5) SSCE Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(1) MCU accepts five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in relevant subjects plus ND upper credit, HND upper credit and NCE merit.
(2) FUTA requires five (5) SSC credit passes or its equivalent at a maximum of two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(3) FUD accepts English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Geography in SSC or its equivalent with minimum credit level in one or two sittings.
(4) FUTO requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings.
(5) MAUTECH requires Five (5) SSC Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physic
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Biotechnology, if you don't intend to use UTME.
You require;Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry or Physics.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(1) GOUNI for Biotechnology requires two (2) 'A' Level passes in Chemistry and any one (1) of Physics, Mathematics or Biology. ND/NCE with good grade relevant the 'O' Level subjects.
(2) MCU accepts five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in relevant subjects plus ND upper credit, HND lower credit in relevant programmes.
(3) FUTA requires;
a) GCE ‘A’ Level or IJMB or JUBEP or Cambridge examinations passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry/Physics; or
b) ND in any Natural, Agricultural or Life Science courses with a minimum of Upper Credit from a recognised institution.
(4) NUN accepts any two (2) 'A' Level passes in the Science subjects. Also accepts ND/HND lower credit or NCE merit in relevant subjects/programmes.
(5) FUTO requires;
a) At least two (2) ‘A’ Level passes not below Grade C in Biology and either Physics or Chemistry.
b) ND/HND at Upper Credit level in life sciences.
c) First Degree in life sciences.
d) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects namely Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Mathematics. It does not accept NCE. Candidates must in addition meet the ‘O’ Level requirements.
(6) MAUTECH accepts Two (2) A Level credit passes in Biology and Chemistry. NCE/ND/HND in relevant fields.
for Biotechnology requires Two (2) A Level credit passes in Biology and Chemistry. NCE/ND/HND in relevant fields.
(7) UNIKINGS accepts 'A' Level passes in Biology and any one of Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry. It also accepts NCE/ND/HND in related field plus UTME requirements.
(8) SALEM accept 'A' Level passes in Biology/Zoology, Botany and Chemistry or any other equivalent examination.
(9) EBSU accepts HND, ND upper credit and NCE merit respectively in the relevant programmes.
(10) FUD accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes (Graded A-D in GCE A level, NCE, IJMB or OND) at the ‘A’ Level in relevant subjects (Biology, Botany, Chemistry and Physics) with minimum 8 points. ND upper credit must be related discipline or area, Science Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology. Nursing Diploma at Pass level. ND Food Science & Technology, ND Health Technology lower credit may be considered where deemed appropriate step down to 100 level.
