Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Law under the Faculty of Law in the above listed universities include;

Any three Arts or Social Science subjects.


SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) BU, UNN, UNIBEN, AAU and OAU require Literature in English plus any two (2) subjects,

(ii) CRESCENT require Literature in English and any other Arts or Social Science subjects

(iii) UI accepts Science subjects.

(iv) UNILAG requires English Language and any three Arts or Social Sciences subjects. Lagos does not accept Music, Fine Arts, and Principles of Accounting. Lagos accepts either Economics or Commerce but not both

(v) RSU requires English Language, Literature in English, CRK, History/Government.

(vi) DELSU accepts Literature in English and any other two (2) subjects in Art/Social Science.

(vii) AAUA accepts Literature in English and any two (2) subjects in Art/Social Science.

(viii) UNIMAID requires any three (3) from Government, Economics, Geography or Arts subjects.

(ix) UMYU requires Literature in English and any other two (2) Arts and Social Science subject.

(x) ABUAD requires Literature in English and any two Arts or Social Science subjects.

(xi) UNICAL requires Literature in English and Christian Religious Knowledge, Govt./History or Economic or any other Arts or Social Science Subjects.

O'Level Requirements


The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Law;

You require;

Five (5)'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics.


SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS


(i) AAU require 'O' Level credit passing one (1) science subject and one (1) commercial subject and at least 'O' Level pass in Mathematics.

(ii) ABUAD accepts five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects at one sitting.

(iii) BU requires five (5)'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and three (3) other Arts subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

(iv) BSU accepts any other three (3) Arts/Social Science subjects

(v) CRESCENT requires five (5) 'O' Level credits passes in English Language, Literature in English, Government and Economics at not more than two (2) sittings. Candidates with 'O' Level pass in Mathematics may be eligible for admission.

(vi) ESUT requires 'O' Level credit passes in Mathematics or Science subject.

(vii) UI requires five (5)'O' Level credit passes at one sitting or six (6) 'O' Level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English Language, Literature in English, any other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences.

(vii) KSU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes or equivalents in English Language, Literature in English and any other three (3) Sciences, Social Sciences or Arts subjects.

(viii) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any two Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

(ix) NDU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any other two (2) subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

(x) OAU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language and Literature in English.

(xi) UNIJOS; 'O' Level credit pass in Mathematics is not compulsory.

(xii) UNIPORT requires Five (5) O Level Credits in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and two (2) other credits from Economics, Government, History, Geography, Commerce, CRK/IRK.

(xiii) UMYU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes or equivalents in English Language, Literature in English and any other three (3) Social Science or Arts subjects with 'O' Level credit pass in Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xiv) UNN does not require Mathematics and does not accept Fine Art or Local languages.

(xv) UYO, MADONNA, BIU, and UNIBEN accept 'O' Level pass in Mathematics.

(xvi) ESUT requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent to include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics.

(xvii) DELSU requires at least five (5) credit passes which must include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings and two (2) other subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.

(xviii) AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any other two subjects from, CRK/IRS, Igbo Language/Yoruba Language/Hausa Language, History, Economics, Geography, Commerce, Accounts/Book-keeping and Government.

(xix) RSUST requires Five (5) WASC/SSCE/GCE/NECO O/L in at least credit passes from English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any two (2) Arts/Social Science subjects.

(xx) UNICAL accepts Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics.

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Law, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

1. Two ‘A’ level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.

2. NCE/ND/First Degree (Second Class Lower).


SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) AAU does not accept any Diploma and NCE but accepts only first degree second class lower plus the UTME requirements. 

(ii) ABUAD accepts excellent passes in JUPEB subjects.

(iii) AAUA requires 'O' Level credit passes in Literature in English and Mathematics

(iv) UNIBEN requires UTME requirements plus two (2) 'A' Level passes; HND Lower credit and NCE credit passes in two (2) teaching subjects; Degree with at least second class lower division.

(v) BIU requires in addition to the UTME requirements a minimum of two (2) relevant passes at 'A' Level or NCE merits in three (3) subjects.

(vi) BU accepts;

a) three (3) 'A' Level passes together with 'O' Level credit passes at not less than five (5) other subjects including English Language and Literature in English or equivalents,

b) a University degree of not less than a second class lower division plus 'O' Level credit passes in English Language and Literature in English,

c) two (2) 'A' Level passes or equivalents plus three (3) 'O' Level credit passes including English Language and Literature in English.

(vii) Crescent accepts:

a) degree

b) Mature students with experience in related programmes who possess basic requirements in (a) shall be considered for admission.

(viii) UNILAG accepts very good passes in JUPEB/A’ Level Subjects: Literature-in-English and any two Arts or Social Sciences. First Degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper.“Lagos does not accept JUPEB / A’ level passes in Fine Arts, Accounting or Commerce”.

(ix) LASU requires:

a) two (2) 'A' Level passes with 'O' Level credit passes in English Language and Literature in English.

b) first degree minimum of third class plus 'O' Level credit passes in five (5) subjects to include English Language and Literature in English.

(x) UNIMAID requires two (2) 'A' Level passes from Government, Literature in English and Religious Studies

(xi) NDU accepts;

a) two (2) passes at 'A' Level in relevant subjects or its equivalents.

b) 'O' Level credit passes or equivalents in five (5) subjects to include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics plus second class honours degree of this University or any other University recognized by Senate.

(xii) OAU accepts first degree with a minimum of 2nd Class Honours plus the UTME requirements.

(xiii) UNIPORT accepts Diploma in Law Certificate from a recognised institution with a minimum of Upper Credit Level Pass, including UTME entry requirements. A first degree from a recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Honours, including UTME entry requirements. Two (2) A/Level GCE or HSC or JUPEB or IJMB Passes in Arts or Social Science Subjects, including UTME entry requirements.

(xiv) RSU accepts Candidates with First Degree from a recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower) Division. However, preference shall be given to candidates with Second Class Honours (Upper) Division or higher degrees. OND/ND (Upper Credit) relevant to the discipline may be considered. In addition, such candidates must also satisfy the U.M.E. entry requirements.

(xv) UMYU requires a minimum of 9 points in IJMB/HSC/GCE ‘A’ Level/NCE in any Arts or Social Science subject. Candidates with a minimum of lower credit pass in Diploma in Law from any recognized College of Legal Studies in Nigeria may also be admitted.

(xvi) UNIOSUN accepts;

a) three (3) passes at 'A' Level together with 'O' Level credit passes at not less than five (5) other subjects including English Language and Literature in English or equivalents.

b) a University degree of Osun State University, in a relevant programme of not less than a second class lower division or any other recognised University in a relevant programme.

(xvii) UNIUYO does not accept IJMB Mathematics and/or any other Science subject.

(xviii) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any two Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

(xix) EDSU accepts;

a) Two (2) 'A' Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects including Literature in English.

b) NCE/OND/HND not below credit level.

c) Very good passes in JUPEB/IJMB subjects: Literature in English and any two (2) Arts or Social Sciences.

d) B.Sc. in relevant field not below Second Class Lower.

(xx) DELSU requires:

a) Candidate must possess GCE ‘A’ Level passes in two (2) subjects one of which must include Literature in English

b) Credit in DELSU Diploma in Law

c) Degrees in the Humanities is accepted for Law.

(xxi) COOU accepts GCE, 'A' Level or HSC passes in two (2) subjects plus 'O' Level credit passesin three (3) subjects including English Language and Mathematics, Literature in English plus UTME requirements, first degree at least second class lower. Does not require Literature in English for degree holders.

(xxii) EBSU accepts

a) HND and ND with a minimum of upper credit from relevant programmes.

b) NCE, ND or degree in Arts or Social Science subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.

(xxiii) UI accepts two (2) passes at 'A' Level plus 'O' Level credit passes in five (5) or six(6) other subjects including English Language and Literature in English. Accepts good first degree with 'O' Level credit pass in English Language.

(xxiv) UNIJOS accepts any class of first degree but does not accept NCE, ND and HND.
