Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Social Studies under the Faculty of Education in the above listed universities include;

Any three of Christian Religious Knowledge, Economics, Geography/Physics, Government, History and IRS.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS



1. DELSU requires any three (3) of Economics, Government, History, Geography, Mathematics, CRS or Commerce.

2. UNIBEN requires Mathematics and any two of Economics, Government and Geography.

3. UNICAL same as in Education Arts.

4. IAUED requires English language, Government, Economics, Religious Studies, or any other Arts subject.

5. EBSU accepts any three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects.

6. AAUA requires any three (3) of CRS/IRS, Economics, Geography, Government/History, Biology/Agricultural Science.

7. UNILORIN requires English Language plus three (3) other Social Science subjects.

8. TASUED requires two (2) Social Science and any one other subject.

9. EKSU requires any three (3) of Christian Religious Studies, Economics, Geography/Physics, Government, History and Islamic Studies.

10. ABU requires Use of English and any 3 Arts or Social Science subjects.

O'Level Requirements


The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Social Studies;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language plus two Arts /Social Science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS



1. EKSU accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and other Social Science subjects, such as Economics, Government, Geography, CRS/IRS, Civic Education, History.

2. OAU accepts Fine Art, Home Management and Music with 'O' Level credit passes in two (2) of Economics, Government, Geography, History and Religious Studies. TC II holders should have merit in any two (2) of History, Home Economics, Social Studies, Fine Art and Religious Studies.

3. DELSU requires Five (5) ‘O’ Level credits which must include Mathematics, English Language and two (2) of Economics, Geography, Government and History.

4. UNIBEN requires Mathematics and two (2) Social Science subjects.

5. ABSU requires fives (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language plus three (3) other subjects and 'O' Level pass in Mathematics.

6. ABU requires five 'O' level credit passes including English language and Social Science subjects.

7. UNICAL requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language and other relevant subjects and it accepts 'O' Level pass in Mathematics.

8. OAU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes including English Language. Candidates with 'O' Level background should have 'O' Level credit passes in two (2) of Economics, Geography, Government, History, Music, Fine Arts, Religious Studies and Home Economics. Those with TC II should have merit in English and two (2) of the following subjects: Social Studies, History, Government, Home Economics, Fine art and Music, Religious Studies and Literature in English.

9. IAUED requires English language, Mathematics, any 3 of the following: Government, Economics, Geography, Commerce, Civic Education, History, Literature in English, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Business Studies, Marketing, Bookkeeping, Data processing, Agricultural Science, Music, Health Education, French, Animal husbandry and any of the Science subjects.

10. EBSU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Government, Biology and one (1) other Social Science subject.

11. GOUNI requires 'O' Level credit pass in Mathematics.

12. KSU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, 'O' Level pass in Mathematics and three (3) other relevant subjects.

13. TASUED requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes at one (1) sitting or six (6) 'O' Level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, and three (3) or four (4) Social Science subjects.

14. UNIABUJA requires five (5)'O' Level credit passes or its equivalent to include Mathematics, English Language and three (3) other relevant Arts/Social Science subjects.

15. UNILORIN requires O/L Credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics, and any other three Social Science subjects. OR O/L Credits in five subjects including English Language, and any other three Social Science subjects.

16. LCITY requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at SSC or its equivalent to include English Language, Government/History and any other three (3) Arts subjects.

17.  AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language,Mathematics and three subjects from CRS/IRS, Lit. in. English, Geography, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Bookkeeping, Government, Biology/Agricultural Science.

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Social Studies, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

(i) NCE Social Studies from recognized Colleges.

(ii)Two (2) 'A' Level passes in relevant subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS



1. OAU accepts NCE Social Studies from recognized Colleges of Education, NCE Social Studies combined with any Social Science subject or Arts plus three (3)'O' Level credit passes including English Language or TC II merit/credit in relevant subjects or Associateship Certificate in Education merit/credit Social Studies of OAU or its equivalent.

2. UNIBEN requires two (2) or three (3) NCE merit including a Social Science subject plus three (3) or two (2) 'O' Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at one (1) sitting.

3. IAUED requires five (5) ‘O’ Level Credits including English Language and Mathematics At least merit pass or lower credit in NCE/OND.

4. EKSU accepts;

a) A pass at merit level in a relevant Diploma programme with UTME requirement.

b) two (2) passes at merit/credit level for NCE candidates or 'A' in the relevant subject plus (3) three 'O' level or SSCE passes at credit level or its equivalents


5. EBSU requires

a) HND and NCE/OND with minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively.

b) two (2) 'A' Level passes in Social Studies, Government or History.

6. TASUED accepts

(a) Two (2) 'A' Level passes/NCE (merit/credit) in Economics, Government/Political Science, Religious Studies, History, Geography and Social Studies.

(b) ND upper credit in Public Administration and Local Government Administration.

7. UNIABUJA accepts two (2)'A' Level passes in relevant subjects/NCE minimum 10 points in addition to UTME requirements.

8. AAUA accepts two (2) NCE merit in History, Home Economics, Fine Arts, Social Studies, Religious Studies, Home Management, Political Science, Guidance and Counseling, Educational Management.

9. UNILORIN accepts; 

a) NCE Social Studies/Economics, Geography, History, Political Science plus O/L Credits in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, and any other three Social Science subjects.

b) ‘A’ Level passes in GCE/IJMB or Equivalents in any two of the following subjects: Economics, Government, Geography, Accounting plus O/L Credits in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics and any other three Social Science subjects. Preference will be given to NCE holders for Direct Entry. General English at the NCE level is not acceptable as a replacement for O/L Credit Pass.

10. DELSU requires NCE merit in Social Studies (Double Major) or Diploma in Social Studies/Social Work with Lower Credit. GCE ‘A’ Level in relevant subjects.

11. ABU requires “A” Level passes / IJMB in at least two subjects which must include Social Studies. ABU Diploma in Arts and Social Science with a minimum of Merit pass. NCE with a minimum of “C” grade in Social Studies
