Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Political Science under the Faculty of Education in the above listed universities include;

Government or History plus two (2) other Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS


(i) UNIBEN accepts one (1) Social Sciences subject and any other subject.

(ii) OAU requires Government and any two (2) of Economics, Geography/Physics or Mathematics.

(iii) IAUE requires English Language, Government, plus any two other Social Sciences or Arts Subjects.

(iv) DELSU accepts Government/History and any two (2) other Arts/Social Science/Science subjects.

(v) EKSU requires Government or History plus two (2) other Arts or Social Sciences subjects.

(vi) UNIPORT requires Government or History plus two (2) other subjects from French, Literature in English, CRK/IRK, Economics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Physics, Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba, Fine Art, Geography, Commerce, Accounting.

(vii) FUK requires government or History plus two other Arts or Social Science Subjects.

O'Level Requirements


The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Political Science;

You require;

Five (5) 'O' Level credit passes or equivalent to include English Language, Government/History and three (3) other subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS


(i) OOU accepts TC II merit/credit in English Language, Mathematics and three (3) other subjects.

(ii) UNIUYO, IMSU, UNICAL, UNN, and UNIABUJA require 'O' Level pass in Mathematics

(iii) OAU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes which must include Government, English Language and Mathematics or five (5) TC II credit/merit which must include English Language, Mathematics History and Social Studies.

(iv) UNIOSUN and UNICAL do not accept History in lieu of Government.

(v) UNIBEN, OOU and LASU require 'O' Level credit pass in Mathematics. UNIBEN requires any Social Sciences subject.

(v) BIU and LASU requires 'O' Level credit pass in Mathematics.

(vi) ABSU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, Government or History and any three (3) subjects, and 'O' Level pass in Mathematics

(vii) UNIOSUN requires 'O' Level or equivalents with credit passes in five (5) subjects: English Language and Mathematics to form the core subjects, with 'O' Level credit passes in three (3) other relevant Arts or Social Sciences subjects at not more than two (2) sittings. Candidates must earn an acceptable score in the UTME.

(viii) DELSU requires five 'O’ Level Credits which must include Government, English Language and Mathematics.

(ix) AAUA requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and Government/History and two other subjects.

(x) EKSU accepts; five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalent to include English Language, Government, Mathematics and other subjects Social Science subjects such as Government, Economics, CRS/IRS, Civic Education, History.

(xi) IAUE: A candidate must possess Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (GCE) “O” level in Five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings. The subjects must include Mathematics, English Language and Government as core subjects. Any 2 “O” level subject(s) from either Social Sciences, Arts and Sciences.

(xii) UNIPORT requires Five (5) O Level Credits in English Language, Government or History, one (1) of Economics, Commerce, Geography, and any other two (2)subjects from French, Literature in English, CRK/IRK, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Physics, Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba, Fine Art, Accounting plus at least a pass in Mathematics

(xiii) FUK requires Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Government/History and any two from Arts or Social Science subjects

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Political Science, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

(i)Two (2) 'A' Level passes in relevant subjects chosen from Government or History, Economics and Geography/Physics.

(ii) NCE merit in Government/History, Economics and Geography/Physics.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

 

(i) DELSU accepts at least merit passes in Government plus one other subject at the NCE or 'A' Level

(ii) ABSU accepts 'O' Level pass in Mathematics.

(iii) UNIUYO and UNICAL accept NCE merit and above in Political Science or Government plus the UTME requirements.

(iv) UNIPORT accepts Two (2) A/level GCE or HSC or JUPEB or IJMB passes in the relevant subjects including UTME entry requirements. NCE with Credit Passes in the relevant subjects including UTME entry requirements from recognized Institutions for a 2-year degree programme. OND with (Upper Credit) or HND with Merit Pass in the relevant subjects including UTME entry requirements from recognized Institutions of higher learning

(v)AAU requires 'O' Level pass in Mathematics

(vi) FUK accepts A pass at credit/merit level in a relevant ND/NCE programme.

(vi) UNIBEN requires two (2) or three (3) NCE merit including Government/History plus three (3) or two (2) O’ level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at one (1) sitting.

(vii) IAUED accepts National Diploma (ND) or NCE in relevant discipline or its equivalent at credit level and merit level respectively. National Diploma in Public Administration or Law from recognized institutions with a minimum of credit level pass. G.C.E. (A) Level passes or its equivalent in any of the following subject: Government, Economics, Christian Religious Studies (CRS), Business Management and Geography.

(viii) LASU accepts NCE merit in Government/History, Geography, Social Studies or Political Science.

(ix) BIU, in addition to the UTME requirements requires, two (2) 'A' Level passes in relevant subjects or NCE in relevant subjects not below credit.

(x) TASUED requires three (3) 'A' Level passes/NCE merit/credit to include Government or History.ND/HND upper credit in Public Administration or Local Government Administration.

(xi) OAU accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes including Government and one (1)other Social Science subject, or NCE merit/credit in Political Science combined with any other Social Sciences or professional subject.

(xii) UNIOSUN accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes including Government and one (1) other Social Sciences or Arts subject, or NCE credit in relevant subjects.

(xiii) NDU accepts: Direct Entry Applicants into 300 Level in a 4-year Degree Programme

a.NCE credit or higher in two (2) major subjects in relevant areas.

b.HND Certificate with passes at credit level or higher in a relevant programme.

c.For B.Ed Technology programme Holders of NCE and HND credit or higher in the relevant programme.

Direct Entry Applicants into 200 Level in a 4-year Degree Programme

a.Two(2) ‘A’ Level passes in relevant subjects.

b. ND credit or upper credit in a relevant programme.

c. NCE merit in two (2) relevant subjects.

d. For B.Ed Technology programme, holders of NCE, City and Guilds, NBC/NTC merit in relevant subjects.

(xiv) AAUA accepts

(a) two (2) 'A' Level passes chosen from Government/History Economics or Geography.

(b) NCE merit in Government/History, Economics or Geography.

(c) ND credit in Public Administration.

(xv) EKSU accepts;

a) Two (2) A-Level passes in relevant subjects chosen from Government or History, Economics and Geography plus UTME requirements.

b) NCE merit in Government/History, Economics and Geography at minimum of merit level plus UTME requirements.

c) Diploma of Ekiti State University in Public Administration not lower than credit pass.
