Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Mathematics under the Faculty of Education in the above listed universities include;

Mathematics and any two (2) of the following Science subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) ALVAN requires Mathematics and two (2) other subjects.

(ii) IBBU accepts Geography/Physics as one (1) of the UTME subjects and one (1) Science/Social Sciences subjects.

(iii) FCETASABA and UNIBEN require Physics and any other Science/Social Sciences subjects as the other two (2) subjects. 

(iv) IMSU requires Physics and any one (1) of Chemistry, Economics, and Geography as the UTME subjects.

(v) CRUTECH requires Physics and either Biology or Chemistry.

(vi) TASUED does not accept Agricultural Science as a Science subject.

(vii) UNILAG requires Mathematics, Physics and any one (1) of Chemistry, Biology.

(viii) IAUE – Same as in Computer Education.

(ix) FUAM requires Mathematics, Biology and Physics.

(x) MAUTECH requires Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science or Economics.

(xi)   AAUA requires Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

(xii)   FUDMA accepts Mathematics, Physics or any of Chemistry, Economics and Geography.

(xiii) DELSU accepts Mathematics plus any other Science/Social Science subjects.

(xiv) UNIMAID requires Mathematics and any two (2) Science Subjects
 

O'Level Requirements


The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Mathematics;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics plus one (1) other Science subject.
 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) EDSU accepts Economics as the other Science subject.

(ii) IMSU accepts a D7 in English Language for candidates with distinction in subjects relevant to the programme.

(iii) UNILORIN, UNIABUJA and OOU accept TC II merit/credit in relevant subjects.

(iv) LASU and IMSU require 'O' Level credit passes in Physics and any other Science   subject.

(v) UNILAG requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two (2) of Chemistry or Biology, Agricultural Science or Further Mathematics and Computer Studies/Data Processing.

(vi) UNIBEN requires two (2) 'O' Level credit passes in other Social Science subjects.

(vii) UNIJOS does not accept TC II in Arithmetic as a subject for 'O' Level mathematics. 

(viii) RSU and ABU require two (2) other Science subjects.

(ix) UNIUYO requires 'O' Level credit passes in English Language and Physics. 

(x) BOWEN accepts either Biology or Agricultural Science as Science subject.

(xi) TASUED does not accept Agricultural Science as Science subject

(xii) CRUTECH requires 'O' Level credit passes in Physics and either Chemistry or Biology.

(xiv) UNIOSUN and AAUA also require 'O' Level credit pass in Physics.

(xv) UMYU requires five (5) credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and any other three (3) subjects preferably Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science or Computer Studies. 

(xvi) LASU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics plus three (3) of Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Physics, and Economics.

(xvii) MAUTECH requires (a) five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in the relevant subjects including, English and Mathematics. (b)    Grade II Teachers' Certificate merit in five (5) relevant subjects including English and Mathematics.

(xviii) TASUED requires five(5) 'O' Level credits at one (1)sitting or six (6) 'O' Level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, and two (2) subjects from Biology, Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography/Physics.

(xviv) UNICAL requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Science

(xx) BUK requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes  to include English language, Mathematics plus three (3) other Science subject.

(xxi)  OAU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and any other two (2) subjects.

(xxii) IAUE requires credits in English, Mathematics, Physics and any other two from Chemistry, Biology, Health Science, Economics, Geography, Data Processing, Commerce, Technical Drawing.

(xxiii) GOUNI requires three (3) other Science subjects.

(xxiv) KSU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three (3) other Sciences subjects from Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, and Economics.

(xxiii) AAUA requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxiv) FUDMA requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes including: English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other two (2) from Chemistry, Biology, Economics or Geography.

(xxv)  FUTMINNA requires English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other from Biology/Agricultural Science or Geography.

(xxvi)  LCU accepts 'O' Level credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other two (2) Science subjects.

(xxvii) DELSU requires SSC 'O’ Level credit in five (5) subjects which must include Mathematics, English Language and one of Chemistry or Physics.

(xxviii) EBSU requires five (5) SSC credit passes to include Mathematics, English Language and three (3) other science subjects.

(xxix) UNILORIN accepts Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology Physics, and any other science subject.

(xxx) ABU requires  Five ‘O’ level credit which must include English Language and Mathematics.

(xxxi)  UNIPORT requires  Five (5) O Level credits passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and any other two (2) subjects from Biology, Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics.

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Mathematics, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2)'A' Level passes/NCE in Mathematics and one (1) Science subject.
 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) BOWEN, FUTMINNA and RSU accept NCE/ND//HND, not below lower credit in related studies in addition to four (4) relevant UTME subjects.

(ii) RSU, BSU, MAUTECH, OOU, and UNIJOS accept NCE in relevant subjects not below merit.

(iii)   LASU accepts NCE merit in Mathematics, and one (1) of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography/Physics and Economics.

(iv)     UNILAG accepts: (a) very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and the UTME requirements. (b) NCE credit/merit in Mathematics and one (1) other science subject.

(v) IMSU accepts NCE merit in Education and the two (2) subject areas into 300 level and below merit into 200 level.

(vi) OAU accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes/NCE passes in Mathematics and Physics and Chemistry.

(vii) ADSU requires NCE/HND merit/credit in relevant subjects/programmes.

(viii) EKSU accepts a pass in General English at NCE as equivalent to 'O' Level English Language.

(xi) ABU accepts  NCE with a minimum of ‘C’ grade in Education and Mathematics.  IJMB with a minimum of ‘D’ grade in Mathematics and minimum of ‘E’ grade in the two other subjects. ND with a minimum of Merit Pass in Mathematics. ABU Higher Diploma with a minimum of Merit Pass in Mathematics Education.

(xii) UNIBEN requires NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) Science subject plus three (3) or two (2) 'O' Level credit passes including English Language at one (1) sitting.

(xiii) UMYU accepts two (2) 'A’ Level credit passes in Mathematics and either Physics and/or Chemistry. NCE credit in mathematics. Another Science subject is also acceptable.

(xv) UNICAL accepts NCE credit or merit in Mathematics and one (1) other Science subject.

(xvi)  BIU requires in addition to the 'O' Level requirements specified, two (2)'A' Level passes in relevant subjects or three (3) NCE merit or ND in relevant programmes.

(xvii) UNIOSUN accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes including Mathematics and any Science Subject or NCE merit in Mathematics, and one (1) other approved Science or Social Science subject.

(xviii) IAUE accepts at least overall merit in OND or ND in Computer Science or any branch of Engineering from any recognized institution of learning. A levels credit cumulative can also be accepted. This should also include an “O” level certificate with credit in five subjects including Mathematics, English. At Least a Merit pass in Nigeria Certificate in Education examination with Computer Science / Mathematics / Physics as Major area. This should also include an “O” level certificate with credit in five subjects including Mathematics and English.

(xix) ABSU accepts NCE merit or ND/HND credit in Mathematics and one (1) other science subject.

(xx) TASUED accepts two (2) 'A' Level subjects including Mathematics and any Science subject.  Or NCE merit in Mathematics, and one (1) other approved Science or Social Science subject.  ND/HND upper credit in Mathematics/Statistics, Statistics, Mechanical, Computer and Electrical Engineering.

(xxi) SSU also accepts 

a. NCE passes in Mathematics and any other Sciences subject; Physics, Biology, Mathematics or Computer Science or a double major subject with the UTME requirements.

b. IJMB passes in Mathematics and one (1) Science/Social Science subject with 'O' Level requirements.

c. ND/HND credit in Mathematics or any relevant subject into 100 level.

(xxii) ATBU accepts NCE pass with five (5)-years teaching experience.

(xxiii) FUDMA requires two (2) 'A' Level passes in Mathematics and any one (1) of Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Geography. Also accepts NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) of Physics, Chemistry or Economics or ND with good grades and relevant UTME subjects.

(xxiv) EBSU accepts: c)      two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer, Mathematics or Integrated Science. d) HND and NCE/OND with minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively.

(xxv) DELSU requires;

a) At least merit passes and above in    Mathematics and Education or any other subjects at NCE or GCE 'A’ Level.

b) Merit in DELSU Diploma in Mathematics.

(xxvi) UNIUYO requires;

a) NCE in relevant subject(s) with an overall merit pass or above, for a        three-year degree programme.

b) Advanced level GCE or JUPEB in two (2) relevant subjects.

c) National Diploma in Educational Technology (DET) (minimum of lower credit level) in any area related to Mathematics Education.

(xxvii) MAUTECH accepts  IJMB/Two ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Science subject.  NCE/ OND /HND  with credit in the major/minimum of lower rcedit in Mathematics or any other relevant field.

(xxviii) UNIPORT requires  Two (2) A/level GCE or HSC or JUPEB or IJMB passes in the relevant subjects including UTME entry requirements. NCE with Credit passes in the relevant subjects including UTME entry requirements.

(xxix) YABATECH accepts  Two (2) A Level passes/NCE in Mathematics and one (1) Science subject.

(xxx) FUK accepts Two A’ Level credit passes in Mathematics and either Physics and/or Chemistry, NCE/ND with credit passes in Mathematics and any other Science subject.

(xxxi) UNILORIN accepts;

a) At least two (2) A’ Level Credit pass in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry and any other science related subjects (i.e. Integrated science and Computer science). (Minimum of 6 points in IJMB or JUPEP is also acceptable).

b) NCE (Distinction/ Merit passes) in Education, Mathematics, and Physics or Chemistry,  Integrated science, or Computer Science: Plus five “O” Level credit passes ( English Language, Mathematics and any other three relevant science subjects).
