Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Economics under the Faculty of Education in the above listed universities include;

Economics, Mathematics and one other subject from Geography/Physics, History, Government and Lit. in English.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) DELSU requires Economics, two of Geography, Mathematics or Government.

(ii) UNIBEN accepts any other subject as the fourth (4th) subject.

(iii) TASUED requires Economics, Mathematics and any of Government, History, Geography, Commerce and Accounting.

(vi) LASU requires Geography.

(vii) EBSU requires any other subject as the third (3rd) subject.

(viii) ABSU accepts Christian Religious Studies/Islamic Studies and any two (2) subjects.

(ix) OOU requires Economics or Mathematics and any two (2) other Social Science subjects.

(x) UNILAG requires English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any one (1) of Geography, History/Government and Literature in English.

(xi) KSU accepts Mathematics, Economics and any of Social Science or Commercial subjects.

(xii) UNIMAID requires Economics, Mathematics and one other subject from Geography, Physics, History, Government and Literature in English.

(xiii) BAYERO requires Economics, Mathematics and any Social Science subject.

(xiv) UMYUK requires Economics, Mathematics and any other Social Science subject.

(xv) EKSU requires Economics, Mathematics and one (1) other subject from Geography/Physics, History, Government and Literature in English.

(xvi) UNIILORIN requires English Language plus three (3) other Social Science subjects

(xvii) IAUED requires English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Government or any Arts/Social Science and Business subjects.

(xviii) UNIPORT requires Economics, Mathematics and one (1) other subject from French, Literature in English, History/Government, CRK/IRK, Economics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Physics, Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba, Fine Art, Geography, Commerce, Accounting.

(xix) FED-KASHERE require Mathematics, Economics and any one subject from Geography, History, Government and Literature in English.

(xx) UNILAG requires English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any one of Geography, History/Government and Literature-in-English

O'Level Requirements


The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Economics;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Economics and Mathematics.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) UDU accepts 'O' Level pass in Mathematics.

(ii) EDALV accepts 'O' Level pass in English Language.

(iii) ABSU, JOS and ABUJA accept 'O' Level pass in Mathematics but such candidates may be required to pass a remedial course in the 1st year.

(iv) OAU requires 'O' Level credit passes in five (5) subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics and Economics plus any other two (2) subjects or five (5) TC II credit/merit which must include English Language, Mathematics and Social Studies.

(v) UNIBEN requires any other Social Science subject in addition to Economics.

(vi) EKSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Economics and Mathematics and any other two (2) Social Science subjects.

(vii) TASUED requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes at one (1) sitting or six (6) 'O' Level credits at two (2) sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) or three (3) Science or Social Science subjects.

(viii) UNIOSUN requires 'O' Level or equivalents with credit passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Economics to form the core subjects, with 'O' Level credit passes in three (3) other relevant Arts or Social Science subjects at not more than two (2) sittings. Candidate must earn an acceptable score in the UTME.

(ix) EBSU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Biology and any other Social Science subject.

(x) UNILAG requires 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) of Geography, History/Government, Literature in English, Financial Accounting and Civic Education/Social Studies.

(xi) AAUA requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any of Commerce, Geography and Government.

(xii) LCITY accepts 'O' Level credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Economics, Mathematics and any other two (2) Social Science subjects.

(xiii) DELSU requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level credits which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) other Social Science subjects.

(xiv) BAYERO requires five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Economics, Mathematics and any Social Science subject.

(xv) UMYUK requires five credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two (2) Social Science subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xvi) UNIILORIN accepts O/L Credits in five (5) subjects including English Language and Mathematics, and any other three (3) Social Science subjects.

(xvii) IAUED: Requirements for admission into the B.Sc and B.Sc (Ed) programmes of the Department of Economics of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education are in line with general NUC and JAMB regulations. Specifically, entry qualifications shall consist of five O’Level credit passes at one sitting or six O’Level credit passes at two sittings which includes English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two of Commerce, Government or History or Civic Education, Geography, Marketing, Data processing, Bookkeeping and Accounting, Business studies, Biology, Agricultural science or any other science subject.

(xviii) UNIPORT  requires Five (5) O Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, one of Government, Commerce, Geography and any other subject from French, Literature in English, History, CRK/IRK, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Physics, Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba, Fine Art, Accounting.

(xix) FED-KASHERE requires Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Economics and any other two Arts or Social Science subjects.

(xx) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Geography, History/Government, Literature-in English, Financial Accounting and Civic Education/Social Studies.

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Economics, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

i. Two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and one other relevant subject.

ii. NCE credit/merit level passes in Economics and one other subject.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) UNICAL accepts NCE credit or merit in Economics and one (1) other subject.

(ii) UI accepts NCE graduates from all affiliated Colleges of Education into 300 level.

(iv) UNIUYO requires 'O' Level credit pass in Mathematics.

(v) UNILAG accepts NCE merit level passes in Economics and any one of Geography, Government, and Financial Accounting. Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects: Economics, Mathematics and other subject from Geography, Government, Accounting. Three ‘A’ Level passes in Economics and any two of Geography, Government and Commerce.

(viii) LASU accepts NCE merit in Accounting or Business Education.

(ix) FED-KAHERE accepts A pass at credit/merit level in a relevant ND/NCE programme.

(vii) BIU same as Business Education

(viii) TASUED accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes/NCE merit in Economics and any one (1) of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History or Government.

(ix) OAU accepts two (2) 'A' Level passes in Economics and one (1) other Social Sciences subject or NCE credit/merit in two (2) teaching or Professional subjects. NCE Business Studies/Accounting double major or combined with any teaching subject is also acceptable.

(x) EBSU requires a) two (2) 'A' Level passes in Economics, Mathematics or social studies. b) HND and NCE/OND with minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively.

c) ABSU requires 'O' Level credit pass in English.

(xii) AAUA requires (a) two (2) 'A' Level passes in Economics and one (1) other relevant subject (b) NCE merit in Economics, Business Education and one (1) other subject. (c) ND credit in Banking and Finance, Economics and Accounting.

(xiii) UNIILORIN accepts;

a) NCE Economics ,Geography, Political Science Plus O/L Credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics, Economics and any other two (2) Social Science subjects.

b) ‘A’ Level passes in GCE/IJMB or Equivalents in any two (2) of the following subjects: Economics, Government, Geography, Accounting, Plus O/L Credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics, and any other three Social Science subjects. Preference will be given to NCE holders for Direct Entry. General English at NCE level is not acceptable as a replacement for O/L Credit Pass.

(xiv) DELSU requires NCE merit passes in Economics and any relevant Social Science subject.

(xv)UMYUK accepts candidates with a minimum of 9 points in IJMB/HSC/GCE ‘A’ Level/NCE in Economics and any other relevant subject. Candidates with a minimum of lower credit pass in Diploma in Economics Education from recognized institutions may also be admitted.

(xvi) IAUED: Admissions into the direct entry programme of Department of Economics requires credit pass in English and Mathematics at the O’ Level, in addition to at least lower credit pass at National Diploma (ND) in Banking and Finance, Management, Accounting, Marketing, or a pass in Economics and any other related subject at the ‘A’ Level; also a minimum of merit at NCE.

(xvii)UNIPORT accepts Two (2) A/level GCE or HSC or JUPEB or IJMB passes in the relevant subjects including UTME entry requirements. NCE with Credit Passes in the relevant subjects including UTME entry requirements from recognized Institutions for a 2- year degree programme. OND with (Upper Credit) or HND with Merit Pass in the relevant subjects including UTME entry requirements from recognized Institutions of higher learning.

(xviii) EKSU accepts;

a) Two (2) A Level passes in Economics and other relevant Social Science subjects plus UTME requirements.

b) NCE merit/credit in Economics and any other relevant Social Science subjects plus UTME requirements.

c) Diploma of the Ekiti State University in Economics and Statistics not lower than Credit pass.

(xix) BAYERO requires;

a) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Economics and one other relevant subject.

b) NCE in Economics and one other social science subject.
