Yoruba can be studied under the Arts & Humanities in the following Nigerian Universities;
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Yoruba under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities in the above listed universities include;
Yoruba and two (2) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) UI- requires Yoruba and two (2) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
(ii) OAU requires three (3) subjects from Arts and/or Social Sciences.
(iii) OOU - Yoruba and two (2) Arts subjects.
(iv) UNILORIN requires Yoruba and two (2) other subjects in Arts/Social Science.
(v) UNILAG requires English Language and any three Arts, Science or Social Sciences.
The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Yoruba;
You require;Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include Yoruba and English Language.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) UI requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one sitting or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings including English Language and two (2) Arts subjects, one of which must be Yoruba
(ii) UNILORIN accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Yoruba, English Language, Mathematics and two (2) other Arts/Social Science Subjects. It also accepts candidate who do not offer Yoruba (Language/Literature) but meet other UTME entry requirements.
(iii) OAU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language and any Arts subject.
(iv) AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Yoruba, Mathematics and any two subjects.
(v) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three Arts, Science or Social Sciences. Social Studies and Civic Education are also accepted
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Yoruba, if you don't intend to use UTME.
You require;Two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Yoruba or Literature in English.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) (i) UI accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject, It accepts NCE credit/merit in Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject.
(ii) OAU accepts NCE merit in Yoruba
(iii) UNILAG accepts Very good passes in three JUPEB/A’ Level subjects in Yoruba/Igbo and any two of History, CRS/IRS, French, Government, Music, Visual Arts and Literature in English. NCE (Merit) in two subjects to include a Nigerian Language.
(iv) UNILORIN requires;
a) At least two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Yoruba and any other Arts/Social Science.
b) NCE/Diploma (Upper Credit) in Yoruba and Social Science subject.
