Linguistics and African Languages can be studied under the Arts & Humanities in the following Nigerian Universities;
OAU : Offers this course with options in;
(i) B.A. (Hons.) Degree in Linguistics
(ii) B.A. (Combined Honours) Degree in Linguistics and English Language
(iii) B.A. (Hons) Degree in Linguistics and Yoruba (Combined)
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Linguistics and African Languages under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities in the above listed universities include;
Igbo and two (2) subjects from Arts and social Sciences.
The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Linguistics and African Languages;
You require;Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Igbo, English Language and any other Arts subject.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
OAU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, one Arts subject and three (3) other subjects from Sciences, Social Sciences or Arts.
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Linguistics and African Languages, if you don't intend to use UTME.
You require;(i) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Igbo and one (2)Arts/Social Sciences subject.
(ii) NCE in Igbo and one Arts subject.
