Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Home Economics under the Faculty of Agriculture in the above Universities include;

Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture and Mathematics/Physics or one (1) Social Science subject.



(i) FUNAAB requires Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Mathematics

O'Level Requirements

The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Home Economics;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes in Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, Physics, English Language and any one of Nutrition, Fine Arts, Textile, Construction, Technical Drawing, Basic Electricity, Basic Catering and Food Services, Bakery and Confectioneries, General Metal Work, Men Garment Construction and Finishing, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing, Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing, Ladies Garment Construction and Finishing



(i) UNIUYO accepts five (5) merit passes in TC II in relevant subjects.

(ii) UNIILORIN requires at least ‘O’ level pass in Physics and Biology.

(iii) MOUAU accepts:

(a)Five (5) 'O’ Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, or Agricultural Science and any other science subjects; requires at least 'O' Level pass in Physics. 'O' Level credit in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least 'O' Level pass in Biology

(b) For Hotel Management and Tourism, it requires five (5) 'O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and any of Physics, Economics and Government.

(iv) UNIOSUN requires five (5) 'O' level credit passes in the SSC or its equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings in addition to an acceptable score in the UTME

(v) BELLS as in Food Science and Technology

(vi) FUNAAB requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.




Direct Entry Requirements

These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Home Economics, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes or equivalents in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Agricultural Science/Economics/Physic s/Mathematics/Geograph y/Accounting.


(i) UNIILORIN requires at least 'A' level pass in Physics, accepts NCE with relevant five (5) 'O' level credit passes. Accepts candidates with ‘O’ level pass in Biology, but who have ‘O’ level credit passes in Agricultural Science, Food & Nutrition/Home Management.

(ii) MOUAU accept ND or HND in the related fields. UI Agricultural candidates must apply to read Agriculture until 500 level when options will be available. Also accepts SRN/NRN or NCE with Distinction.

(iii) UNIUYO accepts ND upper credit, HND lower credit and NCE merit in relevant programs/subjects plus the UTME requirements.

(iv) FUNAAB accepts ND upper credit or NCE credit in Hospitality and Tourism, Catering Management, Hotel Management, Home Economics from a recognized Institution in addition to the UTME requirements.
