In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Food Science and Technology under the Faculty of Agriculture in the above listed universities include;
Chemistry, Mathematics/ Physics and Agric Science.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS(i)
(i) FUTA requires English Language, Chemistry, Physics and any of Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science.
(ii) FUOYE and UNN accept Biology in lieu of Agricultural Science
(iii) EBSU, BELLS accept Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Mathematics
(iv) UNN accept Biology in lieu of Agricultural Science
(v) KSU and UNIZIK require Chemistry, Mathematics/ Physics, Biology/ Agricultural Science
(vi) FUNAAB requires Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Mathematics.
(vii) UNICAL requires Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Agricultural Science.
(viii) MAUTECH requires Biology/Agricultural Science and any other two of Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics and Mathematics.
(ix FUTMINNA requires Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and any one of Mathematics or Physics.
(x) FUWUKARI requires Chemistry, Mathematics/ Physics and any one of Biology/Agricultural Science or any Social Science Subject.
The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Food Science and Technology;
You require;Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agric, Science, Physics, Basic Catering and Food Services, Bakery and Confectionaries, Hotel & Catering Crafty course (Cookery), Hotel & Catering Craft Course (Food /Drinks Services) and Basic Electricity.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) BELLS accept ‘O’ level pass in Physics
(ii) UNN requires ‘O’ level credits passes in five (5) subjects at not more than two (2) sittings. The subjects must include: English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science and any other science subject.
(iii) FUAM accepts Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science.
(iv) IMSU accepts ‘O’ level credit pass in either Mathematics or Physics.
(v) FUTMINNA requires English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry and any one of Physics, Geography or Economics.
(vi) KSU and EBSU require five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Physics and English Language.
(vii) UNICAL, FUOYE and ABSU require five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and Physics.
(viii) FUAM requires five (5) 'O' level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
(ix) FUNNAB and FUTA require five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science. FUNAAB does not accept Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.
(x) FUAM requires five (5) `O' level credit passes or equivalents at not more than two (2) sitting as follows:- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science and English Language.
(xi) MAUTECH requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Chemistry, Physics/Further Mathematics and any one (1) from Biology/ Agricultural Science/Food and Nutrition.
(xii) RSU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agric Science and any other subject. A Pass in Physics is needed
(xiii) FUOYE requires five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Biology/Agric Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics.
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Food Science and Technology, if you don't intend to use UTME.
You require;Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Physics/Agric Science/Botany/Zoology.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) IMSU accepts ND/NCE/HND in Agriculture, Animal Health, Food Science and Technology and Certificate of Registered Nurse (NRN).
(ii) ABSU and MAUTECH accept ND in Food Science and Technology.
(iii) EBSU accepts
(a) NCE with minimum merit passes in relevant subjects.
(b) HND and ND with a minimum of upper credit in relevant programs.
(iv) FUTMINNA accepts ND lower credit/NCE merit in the Agricultural components of choice, and a minimum of merit in the other component; or a HND with a minimum of lower credit to be admitted into 300 level.
(v) FUTA accepts 'A' level passes or equivalents in at least two (2) Science subjects including Biology or Agricultural Science or ND in Food Science and Technology with a minimum of upper credit from a recognized institution.
(vi) FUAM and KUST as in Agriculture
(vii) FUAM, MAUTECH accept ND/HND in Food Science and Technology.
(viii) UNN accepts for the four (4) year B.Sc. program, ‘A’ level passes in any two (2) of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology (Botany or Zoology), Agricultural Science, Physics, Mathematics.
(ix) RSU requires three (3) 'A' level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics plus the UTME requirements. Accepts ND/UD upper credit or HND in relevant programs or Bachelor’s degree in any other Science/ Technology discipline plus the UTME requirements.
(x) BELLS accept ND upper credit in Food Science and Technology/Science Laboratory Technology with Biology/Virology/Chemistry/Biochemistry options.
(xi) MAUTECH accepts
(a) ‘A’ level passes in any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics / English, Biology/Agric. Science
(b) ND/HND in Food Science and Technology may be considered for 200 & 300 level
(xii) FUNAAB accepts upper credit in ND and HND in Food Science and Technology, Agricultural Programmes from recognised institutions in addition to the UTME requirements.
(xiii) FUAM accepts the UTME requirements plus `A' level passes in Physics and any one (1) of Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology or Biology upper/lower credit HND in relevant program plus the UTME requirements. ND upper credit in relevant programs plus the UTME requirements; NCE credit pass in relevant programs plus the UTME requirements.
(xiv) EBSU requires 'A' level passes in at least two (2) relevant subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology obtained at one (1) sitting and/or ND or its equivalent.
(xv) FUOYE requires two (2) 'A’ level passes in any of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Biology or ND in Food Science and Technology, Science Laboratory Technology (Food Science Option) with a minimum of upper credit.
(xvi) KUST accepts
(a) ND in Microbiology and Biochemistry with a minimum of upper credit.
(b) NCE Double Major in related subjects with aggregates of eight (8) points.
(xvii) UNICAL – In addition to the basic Departmental requirements, candidates must have a minimum of upper credit in ND in Food Science and Technology or 'A’ level passes or its equivalent in at least two (2) of Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Mathematics.
(xviii) FUWUKARI - Direct Entry Candidates must obtain two A/L passes in GCE/IJMB/Advanced NABTEB or a merit pass at NCE or at least Lower in ND/HND in Food Science and Technology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Science Laboratory Technology, Agricultural/Chemical Engineering. Candidates must also satisfy the O/L requirement for admission.
