Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Fisheries under the Faculty of Agriculture in the above Universities include;

Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and any other Science subject.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) FED-OYE EKITI, MOUA and IBBU and UDUSOK requires Chemistry, Physics and Biology

(ii) UNIPORT requires Mathematics or Physics as the third subject.

(iii) MAUTECH requires Biology/Agricultural Science and any other two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics and Mathematics.

(iv) UNIOSUN requires Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture and any other science subject.

(v) KWASU requires Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Mathematics/Physics.

(vi) RSUST requires Agricultural Science or Biology.

(vii) FUAM requires Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or Physics.

(viii) OOU – Biology or Agricultural Science and any other two (2) relevant subjects.

(ix) LASU requires Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.

(xi) ABU requires Mathematics as the third (3rd) subject.

(x) BOWEN requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

O'Level Requirements


The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Fisheries;

You require;

Five SSCE credit passes in Biology/Agric Science, Chemistry, Mathematics and English plus any other Science subject.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) DELSU accepts ‘O’ level pass in English Language.

(ii) IBBU and MOUA accepts Five (5) 'O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, or Agricultural Science and any other science subjects; requires at least ‘O’ level pass in Physics. ‘O’ level credit in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least ‘O’ level pass in Biology

(iii) MAUTECH requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Chemistry, Biology/ Agricultural Science and any one (1) from Physics /Geography/ Economics/Fisheries.

(iv) ABU, UNIUYO and NDU require five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science

(v) DELSU accepts ‘O’ level pass in English Language with ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.  

(vi) UNIBEN accepts Statistics and Further Mathematics. Also requires at least ‘O’ level pass in Physics and ‘O’level pass in Biology for candidates with ‘O’ level credit in Agricultural Science.

(vii) UNIPORT accepts any of Physics, Geography and Economics.

(viii) OOU requires five (5) 'O' level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science and any other two (2) subjects.

(ix) RSUST requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics.

(x) KWASU requires five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Mathematics and Physics/Geography /Economics.

(xi) FUTMINNA accepts any one (1) of Physics, Geography, Economics, as the fifth subject. At least ‘O’ level pass in Physics is required.

(xii) KSU requires five (5) credit passes in SSC and/or GCE O/L in English Language, Chemistry, Biology or Agric. Science, Mathematics, Economics or any Social Science subject and ‘O’ level pass in Physics. ‘O’ level credit in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least ‘O’ level pass in Biology.

(xiii) BOWEN requires ‘O’ level credits in Mathematics, English Language, Fisheries/Animal Husbandry, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and one of Physics, Geography, Economics and Food and Nutrition.

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Fisheries, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

(i) Two 'A' level passes in any of Chem, Bio, Botany, Zoology, Agric Sci, Geog, Mathematics, (Pure & applied) Physics, Geology and Economics.

(ii)NCE (Agriculture)


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) FUTMINNA accepts ND/NCE with a minimum of lower credit plus the UTME requirements.

(ii) FUTMINNA accepts ND/NCE credit into 200 level while those with HND may be admitted into 300 level.

(iii) UNIMAID accepts ND/NCE/HND and any other similar qualification.

(iv) MOUA and DELSU requires ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science.

(v) MAUTECH requires Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science/Physics.

(vi) NDU accepts

a. Passes at the ‘A’ level GCE or HSC in three (3) of the following subjects: Biology, Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics or Mathematics;

b. ND in Agriculture or Fisheries;

c. upper or lower credit HND/ND. In some cases, depending on the candidates CGPA, he/she may be recommended for admission into 300 level.

(vii) UNIBEN - accepts ND upper credit/HND lower credit in any one of Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, and Cooperatives, Fisheries, Forestry & Wildlife Mgt., Geology, Advanced Microbiology, Food and Brewing Science, Science Laboratory Technology plus the UTME requirements. NCE merit in Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics plus the UTME requirements. Does not accept ‘A’ level pass in Health Science

(viii) EBSU - accepts NCE with minimum merit passes in relevant subjects or HND and ND with minimum of upper credit in relevant programs.

(ix) IBBU accept ND upper credit in Agriculture plus five (5) relevant credit passes at SSC

(x) RSUST - requires HSC/GCE ‘A' level passes in Chemistry and Biology including ‘O’ level credit pass in English Language, ND upper credit in Biology or Agricultural Science or HND credit in Biology or Agricultural Science in addition to the UTME requirements.

(xi) MAUTECH accepts

(a) Two (2) GCE `A' Level passes in Chemistry, Physics or Biology/Agricultural Science

(b) HND credit in (a) above

(c) ND/NCE with credit pass in Biology, Agricultural Science or Chemistry

(xii) OOU accepts relevant 'A' level passes, NCE merit passes in two (2) relevant subjects, ND/Certificate of any of the Professional Examination Bodies in Agriculture, Cooperative Business Management, Finance or other related subjects.

(xiii) UNIOSUN accepts Two (2) 'A' level credit passes in chemistry and one from Biology, Agriculture, Physics, Geography and Mathematics.

(xiv) KSUSTA accepts GCE 'A’ Level/NCE/IJMB or its equivalent in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science with minimum of score prescribe annually by the University Senate; and 'O’ level credit passes in Chemistry, Mathematics and English Language as core and any two (2) of Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Electrical and Electronics, Technical Drawing. It also accepts ND/HND (at least 2.75 CGPA) in relevant area and ‘O’ level credit passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, and English Language as core and any two (2) of Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science and Geography.

(xv) UNIUYO accepts (a) ND upper credit, HND lower credit or NCE credit in relevant disciplines into 200 level.(b) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Agricultural Science, Mathematics / Statistics, Geography.

(xvi)FED-OYE EKITI requires ‘O’ level credit in Physics and consideration can be given to candidates with ‘O’ level credit in Mathematics and ‘O’ level pass in Physics.

(xvii) ABU accepts

a) ND in Fisheries Technology Management with upper credit or distinction.

b) HND in Fisheries Technology Management/Science an upper credit requirement above applies.

(xviii) UNIILORIN accepts HND with lower credit pass in Fisheries, Agriculture or related programs from NBTE accredited Institutions.

(xix) BOWEN requires two (2) 'A’ level passes to include Chemistry and one of Physics, Biology, Human Nutrition.
