Food Technology can be studied under the Engineering, Environment & Technology in the following Nigerian Universities;
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Food Technology under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above listed universities include;
Biology/Agricultural Science and any two of the
following: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Economics
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
i) IMT-ENU requires Biology.
ii) YABATECH requires Mathematics, Biology/Agric. Science and Chemistry.
iii) IBD-POLY does not accept Economics as UTME subject. Requires Chemistry as one (1) of the UTME subjects.
iv) BAUCHIPOLY requires any three (3) subjects from Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics, Biology, Agricultural Science and Home Economics.
v) IMO-POLY accepts the following: English Language, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry and Mathematics.
The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Food Technology;
You require;Five (5) SSCE credit passes in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science/Health Science and any two (2) of the following: Physics, Technical Drawing, Economics/Commerce, English Language, Additional/Further Mathematics, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, Geography, Physics and English Language.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
i) GIWAPOLY, FEDPO-ADO, OSUNPOLY and LASPOTECH require 'O' Level credit pass in Mathematics.
ii) IBD-POLY requires five (5) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings including Mathematics and at least a pass in Physics.
iii) FEDPO-ILA requires 'O' Level credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science/Health Science and any one of the following: Physics, Technical Drawing, Economics/Commerce, Additional/ Further Mathematics, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, Geography, Health Education, Civic Education, Tourism, Tie & Dye, Home Management, Book Keeping/Principle Of Accounting, Data Processing, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Government, Basic Catering and Food Services, Hotel & Catering Craft Service, plus at least a Pass in Physics and Relevant NTC/NBC &NVC Trades.
iv) FEDPODAM offers it as Food Science and Technology.
v) FEDPOFFA accepts at least a pass in English Language and Physics.
vi) FEDPO-AIU requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and any one (1) of the following; Physics, Additional Mathematics, Economics, Food and Nutrition, Statistics and at least a pass in Physics. It also does not accept Economics as a UTME subject.
vii) FEDPO-OKO requires 'O' Level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Food and Nutrition/Hotel Catering, Basic Electricity and Geography.
viii) FEDPO-NEK and RUGIPO require at least a pass in English Language and Physics.
ix) FCAT-KANO (a) accept candidates who have successfully completed NBTE recognised Pre-ND in Science and Technology course at credit level and may be admitted into the programme. Such students must have at least pass grades in Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and one other subject chosen from Physics, Economics, Food and Nutrition, Geography in WASC or GCE 'O' Level before undertaking the course. (b) does not accept the combination of two different examination bodies at SSC 'O' level (it is either NECO - NECO or WAEC - WAEC).
x) FEDPO-BAU accepts Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science/Health Science and any two (2) from Physics, Technical Drawing, Economics/Commerce, Further Mathematics, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, Geography. Credit passes in Physics and English Language is compulsory.
xi) OSUNPOLY requires 'O' Level credit passes in two (2) Basic Sciences subjects, Geography, Economics/ Commerce. It accepts credit in Animal Husbandry/Food and Nutrition.
xii) IMO-POLY accepts five (5) 'O' Level credit passes from English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science/Health Science and any one (1) from the following: Biology/Health Science/Agricultural Science, Physics, Economics/Commerce, Additional/ Further Mathematics, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, Geography. 'O' Level pass in Physics is accepted.
xiii) TOPS requires five (5) 'O' Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science. 'O' Level passes in Physics and English Language is accepted.
xiv) DELTAPOLY accepts a pass in Physics.
xv) FIDEIPOLY accepts five (5) 'O' Level credit passes to include Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science/ Health Science, Economics/Commerce, Additional/Further Mathematics, Statistics, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition/Hotel Catering and Geography. 'O' Level passes in English and Physics is accepted.
xvi) YABATECH requires five (5) O' Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and any one (1) of the following: Physics, Economics, Geography and Food & Nutrition. At least Pass in Physics is Compulsory.
