When ECOWAS was created, the main idea was to write the west African economics int one space. Therefore, very first objective of ecowas as to become a pillar for the African economic community; trade restrictions have been abolished, whereby manufacturers are more protected and have better opportunities to sell their products. ECOWAS is also aimed at creating an integrated trade space.
