(a) Land forms found in the upper course of a river:- gorge/canyon; - V-shaped valley Interlocking spur, - cliff; - steep slopes, highland - hanging valley.
(b) Differences between alluvial fan and delta: - alluvial fans are found mostly in arid regions whereas deltas are found both in semi arid and non-arid regions, - deltas are found where rivers enter the sea or lake whereas alluvial fans are found where rivers emerge from a canyon onto lowlands; - alluvial tans are found within continents whereas deltas are found in coastal areas, deltas contain water most of the time whereas alluvial fans are always dry,-alluvial fans are found at the foot of highlands whereas deltas are formed at the mouth of rivers - deltas are relatively flat while alluvial fans are steep in cross profille, - deltas may have swamps, lakes or lagoons while alluvial fans have none of these,- sediments of alluvial fans are usually more Coarse while sediments of deltas are less Coarse, fine silt or clay, deltas have distributaries whereas alluvial fans have dry rill channels, deltas are formed in lower courses of rivers whereas alluvial fans could be formed outsiIde lower Courses of rivers. Similarities between alluvial fan and delta:- both are depositional features -deposits by water action; composed of alluvium, materials sorted according to size and weight, - found on low lands; both are built by heavily laden streams/rivers - both are fan-shaped.
