Practice of pastoral nomadic in East Africa;
(a) Areas and peoples involved (a) Areas Southern Kenya, Northern Tanzania and south of Lake Tur Kana Peoples. These are the Masai and Turkana
(b) Methods;
(i) It is based on free range grazing not intensive but extensive
(ii) They also practice transhumance
(c) Problems;
(i) Problems of pests and diseases, unfavourable climate-drought, clashes with crop farmers
(ii) Inadequate pasture and
inadequate veterinary services.
(d) Importance;
(i) Source of meat eg meat, milk, blood etc
(ii) Source of industrial raw materials e.g leather, wood, food processing
(iii) Provision of employment
(iv) Provision of revenue for nomads
