Two equal forces: F\(_1\) = 16 N, F\(_2\) = 16 N, angle between them θ = 60º

The formula for the magnitude of the resultant R is: \(\sqrt{F_1^2 + F_2^2 + 2F_1F_2Cos\theta}\) 

R = \(\sqrt{16^2 + 16^2 + 2 \times 16 \times 16 cos 60º}\)

R = \(\sqrt{16^2 + 16^2 + 2 \times 16 \times 16 cos 60º}\) = \(\sqrt{256 + 256 + 2 \times 16 \times  \times 16 \times 0.5}\)

= \(\sqrt{256 + 256 + 256}\) = \(\sqrt{768}\) = \(\sqrt{256 \times 3}\) = 16\(\sqrt{3}\)N
