The mean and median of integers x,y, z, and t are 5 and z, respectively. If x< y< z< t and y = 4. Find (x + t)
\(\overline{x}\) = \(\frac{\sum x}{\text{n}}\)
\(\overline{x}\) = \(\frac{ x + y + z + t }{\text{4}}\) = 5
x + y + z + t = 20
but y = 4
x + 4 + z + t = 20
x + z + t = 20 - 4 = 16
median = \(\frac{ y + z}{2}\) = z
= 2z = 4 + z
= 2 z - z = 4
z = 4
Then, x + t + 4 = 16(since z = 4)
x + t = 16 - 4 = 12.
