Ski - /skiː/

- C. be: The vowel sound is /iː/ (long "e" sound).
- D. been: The vowel sound is /ɪ/ (short "i" sound).

We are looking for the word that has a different vowel sound.
Step 1: Identify vowel sounds
Beach → /iː/ (long “ee” sound)
Ski → /iː/ (long “ee” sound)
Be → /iː/ (long “ee” sound)
Been → /ɪ/ (short “i” sound in most accents, like “bit”)
Step 2: Compare
Beach, ski, be → all have the long /iː/Here’s the full explanation:
1️⃣ British vs American English
British English (RP accent)
been → /biːn/ (same as be) ✅
beach, ski, be → /iː/
So in RP English, been has the same long “ee” sound as be, ski, and beach.
American English (General American accent)
been → /bɪn/ or sometimes /bɛn/ (short “i” sound)
So in American English, been is different from be, beach, ski.
Been → has short /ɪ/
✅ Answer:
D. Been
It has a different vowel sound from the others.
If you want, I can make a mini JAMB-style vowel sound quiz for practice—these often confuse students. Do you want me to do that?

i wish i could paste the screenshot of the video lesson where teacher Alexander specifically and visually highlighted that be is /i:/ sound, it's not short, nah, it's long

here is what i believe
b/i:/ is be
b/i:/n is been
b/i:/ʃ is beach

while sk/i/ is ski, which seems like the odd one, if not, this is a wrong question

the answer is D even Myschool AI says so. Only D is different containing the short /I/ sound

The word 'be' has two pronunciations: /bi:/ and /bɪ/. Given that this is the only option that allows the /ɪ/ sound, option C is the correct answer.

Number 60 is clearly option D if you know proper Diction -in -english. the other sounds have the long /i:/ while option D has the short /I/ sound. If you like argue blindly na you sabi.
