Guys this is simply a parenthesis statement, and the concord rule states that we should discard (not the salesman and his representative) because it's not part of finding our subject / object. # 'is' is absolutely correct.

This is apposition...and it have it 'makers', and the maker of the apposition in this sentences is not the 'not', but the 'comma', for instance...,mr ojo, the headmaster and the pastor of redeemer church _______ angry, (a)is (b)are (c)were , the correct option is (a)...cos the first rule guiding this topic is that 'the first subject determines the verb that operate it'...cos all these larger now phrase(the headmaster and the redeemer pastor) compliment mr Ojo....there's much to it anyway...but that's just the preamble....so the option D is CORRECT.

The answer is E ...bcus the salesmen and the representative are both compliments to the subject, the employer.

In English grammar, when a phrase like "not the salesman and his representatives" is added to a sentence, the subject remains "the employer," which is singular. Therefore, the verb must also be singular, as indicated by "is"

In my own opinion i think it is only talking about the employer not the rep.
