My school the option chosen above is not the right option. The right option is (D). Please correct it.

fundamental can mean primary, or most important qualities, which would have made "D" the answer. However, it also means elementary which is most appropriately opposit to "A", but from the nature of the sentence, i guess "A" is the answer. It may be dounting to have to think so deep of one question when writing an exam, but practice makes for a great success. Good website☺.
