the answer is had, because in expressing a wish it always goes with a single verb excect it comes before the 'to' infinite. eg i wish i had a car. i wish to have a car.

Let's figure out the correct option together!
The sentence is: "If I...enough money, I would buy a car."
This is a conditional sentence, specifically a second conditional. Second conditionals talk about hypothetical or unlikely situations in the present or future. They follow this structure:
If + past simple, would + base form of the verb
In our sentence, "would buy" is already in the "would + base form" part. This means we need the past simple tense in the "if" clause.
Let's look at the options:
* A. had - This is the past simple of "have."
* B. have had - This is the present perfect tense, not the past simple.
* C. had had - This is the past perfect tense, not the past simple.
* D. have - This is the present simple tense, not the past simple.
The correct option is A. had.
So the complete sentence is: "If I had enough money, I would buy a car."
You got this! 😊
