miser is a person who hoards money rather than spending it or you even say that miser is a stingy person. so the answer suppose to be hoarder and not spendthrift

Did you read the question? It says the nearest OPPOSITE,not nearest in meaning! I think the answer is Spendthrift as opposed to miser
