Colonel /ˈkɜː.nəl/ = stress on the 1st syllable
Routine /ruːˈtiːn/ = stress on the 2nd syllable
Connive /kəˈnaɪv/ = stress on the 2nd syllable
Balloon /bəˈluːn/ = stress on the 2nd syllable
Therefore, the correct answer is option A.

I could've joined the bandwagon protesting that option A is the correct answer, since I also chose A initially.
But this is a platform to learn and not to reinforce our perceived knowledge. The key to learning is to accept that your point maybe wrong.

/'k3:nl/ = colonel
/ru:'ti:n/ = routine
/kĕ'naıv/ = connive
/bĕ'lu:n/ = balloon
P.S if you still cannot understand how "Routine" is the word with a different stress pattern, I'll suggest you go learn Lexical stress.

The answer's B, although I also chose A.
Only "routine" has it's stress on the 2nd syllable, the rest (including "colonel") is on the first.

The problem is you all think colonel is pronounced co-lo-nel. It is not!
Get a dictionary and learn the proper BrE pronunciation.

I just checked my dictionary now colonel pronunciation is totally different from the others. so you check yours very well the answer is A n not B
