Somto You are wrong. The answer is man. When ever 'some' comes b4 a singular noun like man It shows dat d person being talked about is unknown to d speaker. As in d question

The selected answer is wrong:
The answer is inhabitants). The person is new to that place so haven't yet fully adapted to their rules and is not yet an inhabitants, dweller or even a risder. An inhabitant of a place is someone whom as stayed in that place for a long period of time. So that's the best option, I can be a kind man and might have not been in that place for a period of time... So the possibility of helping a stranger is slim or implausible.

The correct answer man not inhabitants.
1. "Some" when used if the noun is unknown works with singular noun. Inhabitant(singular) will be correct but inhabitants(plural) is wrong.
2. "Kind" used there is not the one showing the randomness of the man in the sentence, kind is an adjective qualifying the random man as a kindhearted person. "Some" is the one showing the randomness.
3. "Some" works same way as "one" e.g: One Mr Alex, or, Some Mr Alex. Still singular noun used

you should have been rather specific with the question, "some" can fit in for all the options but i think the most suitable is "inhabitants"

Myschool the answer is inhabitant accoring to the sentence the speaker was looking for people living around the area which is (inhabitant).
