Uncountable noun or non- count noun don't go with the indefinite article(i.e a, an) instead with the definite article (i.e the), also they can not be pluralizes (you can't add "S" to them). But you can add quantifiers to them(i.e a little, little, much and the general one's( it can be used for both countable and uncountable nouns) enough, more,a lot of, lot of,plenty of. Note: they don't take the quantifiers of the countable nouns. Apply this rules to the question.
For option A. an uncountable noun quantifiers was used
B. the uncomfortable noun was pluralized
C. an indefinite article was used
D. could have been correct but the uncountable noun was pluralized. So the correct option is A.
