Before we stress the options, I want you to note that whenever a word ends with any of these: -pher, -phy, -ify, -ity, -ical, -ible, -able, -ence, -ent, -ship, -ate, -ant,.... Count the syllabes from the back and stress the 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙙 syllable
Also, whenever a word ends with any of these : ion/ic/ics, ian/ient/ium/um, ious/eous/ous/uous/ual,...... count from the back and stress the 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙 syllable.
Let's look at the options
:
A. Interlocutor
Stress pattern: in-ter-𝙇𝙊-cu-tor
The stress is on the 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙙 syllable.
Sounds like: in-ter-𝙇𝙊𝙊-ku-tor
B. Opportunity
Stress pattern: op-por-𝙏𝙐-ni-ty
Stress is on the 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙙 syllable as well.
C. Ambiguity
Stress pattern: am-bi-𝙂𝙐-i-ty
Yup, same thing — stress is on the 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙙 syllable.
D. Actualization
Stress pattern: ac-tu-al-i-𝙕𝘼-tion
Stress is on the 𝙛𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙝 syllable!
So, 𝙊𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘿 is the right answer
Hope this helps!
Make sure to practice with lots of examples.
