Rule 5. Sometimes the subject is separated from the verb by such words as along with, as well as, besides, not, etc. These words and phrases are not part of the subject. Ignore them and use a singular verb when the subject is singular.
Examples:
The politician, along with the newsmen, is expected shortly.
Excitement, as well as nervousness, is the cause of her shaking.

I doubt if the provided answer is right concord wise...I think A would have just been right.

This answer is so confusing. My school team please and please try to update answers with explanation.

Option A is d correct ans.law of concord states when one of d two subjects happens to b plural d verb agrees wit d former

Myschool is very correct here, whenever accompaniment concord is used such as ,as well as,together with,in conjunction with any noun or subject after the accompaniment is irrelevant so the maids in the question is quite irrelevant and you won't consider it in your choice of verb since it's irrelevant, hence you are only going to consider sa'adatu since it's the main subject it will take singular verb likes and not like since sa'adatu is a singular subject or noun

The explanation given contradicts the answer. Based on the explanation, A is the correct answer i.e Sa'adatu as well as the MAIDS like plaintain chips.

“sa'adatu as well as the maids” ==== “they”
therefore, you can as well say “they like plantain chips”.
OPTION A.

There isn't any conjunction Dere.. eg and..
If it was Sadatu and de maids de answer is A that's like plantain chips cos the MAIDS is the subject closer to de verb..
But de question is talking about only Sadatu so u know a singular verb follows suit..
