Discuss the important role played by agriculture in the economy of your country.
Importance of Agriculture in the economy of my country are:
(i)It provides food for the populace, thus ensuring that people are well fed.
(ii) It provides raw materials needed by the industrial sector e.g Cocoa for Bournvita and maize for cornflour.
(iii) Agriculture provides revenue for farmers and the agricultural sector generates a sizeable part of the National Income.
(iv) Agriculture offers employment to many Nigerians who would have been jobless.
(v) Agriculture provides a market for industrial products such as hoes, machetes, fertilizer and insecticides.
(vi) It fetches foreign exchange for the country following the export of its raw materials.
(vii) It serves as a source of tax revenue in that the export duty imposed on exported raw materials is a source of revenue to thd government.
