Explanation

(a) Mode is a measure of central tendency. It tells us the observation which is most popular, that is the most frequently occurring in value in a distribution. Example: from the following observation:- 1,3,4, 5,3, Mode is 3. Mode is suitable to use when we have large array of numbers or want to find the number that appears most in a series of numbers

(b) Disadvantages:
(i) There may be uncertainty in the exact locations.
(ii) It is not an ideal measure of central tendency.
(iii) The arrangement of data is always tedious.
(iv) It is not useful in further statistical calculation.
(v) Mode becomes less useful when too many peaks are involved.
(vi) It is a very poor average.
(vii) It is difficult to determine when there are more than a mode.
