(a) Persuasive advertising is advertising which tries to convince people to buy and use a particular product or service whether or not they need it at that particular time. Persuasive advertising facilitates impulse buying.

(b) Informative advertising is an advertising which tends to create awareness about the existence of some goods or services. It gives all the facts about the uses and where the goods or service can be obtained.

(c) Competitive advertising is an advertisement which tends to create more market for a product or service at the expense of a close substitute, stating that a product is better than the other close substitute.

(d) Mass advertising refers to joint advertising organised by producers a distributors of similar products in order to eliminate wastes and cut costs in respect of resources and energy. producers of similar goods come together to advertise their goods.

(e) Direct advertising is advertising which is selective ind the message sent to persons who are likely to buy the product or service. It is directed to the most specific market ,possible (target market) e.g. advertising of cosmetics in women's magazine.
