(a) The meaning of packaging : Packaging is the designing and producing of wrap per or container for a product. It may consist of cardboard paper/ box or metal/wooden box to protect the product.
(b) Disadvantages of Packaging
(i) Empty packages constitue health hazard to the public environmental pollution/ litternig
(ii) packaging adds to the cost of the product to the consumer/increase in price of products
(iii) goods can be packaed to the detriment of consumers.
(iv) Packaging lends itself to easy faking of manufactuers product.
(v) Some packaging do not allow physi by consukmers.
(c) Reasons why manufacturers package their goods:
(I) It provides a physical protection for the manufacturers' goods against risk associated with weather, water, damages through handling and adul iteration
(ii) It constitues a device through which manufacturers brand their product.
(iv) It helps customers make easy selection of manufacturers goods.
(v) It facilitates advertising of the manufacturers! product
(vi) It enables manufacturers meet government safely requirments for product description/labeling
(vii) The pleasant appearance of packages promotes acceptance of a manufacturer's product
(viii) It facilitates easy handling and transportation.
