The correct answer is indeed D not C. Yes King David was devastated upon hearing that Ammon killed his half brother Absalom, but what broke his heart the most was his commander, Joab murdering his son Absalom... after he explicitly ordered him to spare his life. Joab did this coz there was no room for rebels in his world so he did the king and his kingdom a favor by removing a threat i.e the King's son. Thanks!
