This is found in Jonah 4:10. After Jonah became angry that God spared the city of Nineveh, God used a fast-growing plant that withered overnight to teach him a lesson about compassion. God's point was that if Jonah could feel pity for a plant he didn't even grow, God should certainly have compassion for a great city filled with people.
