The message "Thus saith the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings. Trust not in lying words saying; 'The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord'" was given by the prophet Amos. Amos was a shepherd from the southern kingdom of Judah who was called by God to prophesy to the northern kingdom of Israel during a time of great prosperity and political power. Despite the prosperity, however, the people of Israel had turned away from God and were engaging in widespread corruption, injustice, and idolatry.
