In the biblical narrative found in Genesis 37, Joseph, the son of Jacob and Rachel, had dreams that he shared with his brothers. In these dreams, Joseph portrayed himself as having authority or dominance over his brothers, symbolised by sheaves of grain bowing to his sheaf and stars bowing down to him.
The dreams that showed that Joseph would be more powerful than his brothers increased their feelings of jealousy and resentment. Additionally, Joseph's father, Jacob, showed him favouritism and this is exemplified by the coat of many colours that he gave to Joseph. This further fueled the animosity among the brothers.
So, the reason why Joseph's brothers hated him more was because of the dreams he shared, which implied a future where he would be in a position of authority over them.
