The answer is A. Joseph initially was sent to Shechem by his father to look for his brothers. He didn't find them at Shechem so someone told him they had gone to Dothan. When his brothers saw him coming that was when they planned to kill him. Gen.37:12-28

It’s at Dothan.. because when Joseph got to shechem, he only met a man wandering and he told him.. they left for Dothan (gen 37: 17)

Joseph's father sent him to Shechem, but his brothers have gone far to Dothan. They saw Joseph coming and conspired right at Dothan to kill him. He did not meet his brothers at Shechem!
